Accommodation

International Students must live in a homestay that has been vetted and approved by the International Education Department. This will cost them $295 per week.

This cost includes three meals a day, seven days a week, a room of your own, and full use of the facilities of the house. The only extra costs are for your internet use.

Most New Zealand families live in detached houses on a plot of land, with lawns and gardens.  Your family might have other children, but not always. Homestays can be in town, outlying areas, beach or farm locations. Most homestays are located in the township of Thames, so school and amenities are within easy walking distance. If placed outside of Thames students will take a free bus each day to and from school.

If you enrol we will help you settle into your homestay. Either a representative from Thames High School or a shuttle, will meet you at the airport and take you to your new home. If you have any problems in your homestay, the international team are available to help you. Contact Pauline by email [email protected].
