Exploring Rotorua: A Journey of Culture, Learning, and Connection

Some of our International students joined our Senior Geography and Tourism students, who recently returned from an unforgettable 3-day trip to Rotorua, packed with hands-on learning, cultural immersion, and memorable team-building experiences. The group gained valuable insights into Māori culture through traditional performances and explored the region’s famous geothermal wonders, including geysers and native Kiwi sanctuaries. The adventure continued with exciting activities like the Luge and an evening stroll through the Redwoods Tree Walk, taking in the stunning night-light displays high among the trees. Beyond the curriculum, the trip provided a fantastic opportunity for our international and local students to connect, build lasting friendships, and experience the very best of New Zealand together.

Here is what one of our International Students, Lianna, said about her experience:

“The geography trip to Rotorua was a really great experience. We learned a lot about the Māori culture with a traditional performance. We were able to see the geysers and NZ native bird, the Kiwi”.  Through all these fun activities like the luge and the tree walk, the international students connected well with the local students, which improved our experience. At night we did the Redwoods Tree walk and we looked at the stunning light shows as we walked through the forest. Overall, it was a great experience to see new things and explore New Zealand”
